You know, for kids

"Why can't we as Americans manufacture the same things that are made in china? Why can we not make a computer in the United States? A cell phone? Any kind of toy lincoln logs, legos???? Why???"
Rich-E-Rich, cincinnati, oh

Lincoln Logs? Man, that takes me back.

  1. Because your fellow citizens don't care to be chained to their work tables for 18 hours a day at 37 cents an hour. Nor do they want to pay $20,000 for a PC, or three grand for a cell phone.

  2. Reason being because manufacturing is cheaper in China. Even taking into account the cost of shipping the raw materials to China and shipping the finished product over, it is still MUCH cheaper than doing it all here in the US. Since the consumer will only pay the cheapest price for anything, outsourcing manufacturing jobs to China (Or Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam et al.) makes perfect business sense.
